Ok....I'll guess:

Control Panel/ Programs and Features/ Turn Windows Features on or off - un-check Indexing.   Turn off indexing (right click) on all drives  (apply to all subfolders and files)

Services/ Windows Search/  Disable.

You running any widgets accessing the internet or running searches?

on Feb 21, 2012

Yrag, it's a PC I just sold to a friend. No screenshot. I have disabled Windows Search but didn't turn off indexing. I'll do that next.

Gonna be out of town for half the day today. I'll let you know this evening how it goes.

Eve, actually yes, he's running a few of my gadgets. Weather and a clock.

on Feb 21, 2012

It's probably weather. An invalid location will put up a search not found message box, but it shouldn't be recurring. Which gadget is this?

on Feb 21, 2012

Made In The Shade weather.

Weather was it. I wonder why?

"fresh install" usually means nothig but the OS (or if OEM, the crap they put on it).
