Quoting JcRabbit, reply 9I was going to write '...all the time I spend on the girlfriend' but it occurred to me that it might be misinterpreted. Damn the English language!

Interestingly ..."all the money I spend on my girlfriend" is also able to be construed 2 ways....one of which isn't 'ideal'...

Actually, both aren't ideal.

Give me a call when we live in an ideal world.

"Call a jack a jack. Call a spade a spade. But always call a whore a lady. Their lives are hard enough, and it never hurts to be polite."

So, does that mean we can call Doc our favorite Karma Lady?

I'd like to compliment myself for being such a great guy.   I once knew this guy named tetleytea.   What a great guy.

I keep tellin' ya Jim, "Go to the eye doctor, Jim. Get your specs fixed, Jim.", but does he listen? Nope.

I would like to compliment time for being so consistent. As long is it stays away from that knucklehead, gravity.

I'd like to compliment Brad on being such a real presence on the forums.  It's nice when you get to see what he's doing, and a lot of the way he's presenting Fallen Enchantress stuff seems like he is on the right track for FE, "show, not tell".  And he can admit to when he has gone wrong and change the way he does things if necessary.  But really, how often do you see *ANY* CEO admit they have ever done something wrong, or could have done something a lot better in hindsight?

I'll second Steven's comment above.  All of Stardock's folks have been genuinely good, mature, and helpful people who've been unbelievably gracious with their time and their efforts towards making the best game they know how to make.  I'm optimistic about having Kael and Jon working together, and I think the design and function of Fallen Enchantress looks great so far, I'm also excited about the immersion that will come from having a good fiction author full time on staff.  As a builder/turtler, specifically, the idea of randomly generated tech trees, tile yields, and unique levelups for cities are wonderful additions to the genre that push the community as a whole forward.

I've frankly been amazed at how open Frogboy has been about every aspect of how he runs his company, from his technical decisions to his programmatic ones; he's been uniquely forthright about where he's going, which is something that is...well, honestly, it's a little weird, I mean, OTHER companies read these forums too, and it's not like there's a book out there about how to run a software company.  I digress.

I'm also pleased and thrilled by the sense of community that is engendered on the boards by and large.  CariElf, BoogieBac, Jafo, and so many other great minds and kind souls regularly frequent the forums trying to do the best they can to keep a sense of community within this game.

Random compliment.

Lets hear it for all of WC who broke their piggy banks and sended me lots and lots of pennies. I need more pockets.

on Nov 14, 2011

Winnihym, that compliment wasn't random. I would like to compliment your shoes though. The whole collection.

Winnihym - I think the Stardock forums are one of the few places on the Internet that you can actually get to know people in a (somewhat ) mature environment.  I'm glad I didn't leave when I initially planned to after the bad Elemental launch.

PS: Sometimes you just do things because it seems right.  And sometimes, even if you know the theory of how to run a software company, doesn't mean you have the right attitude and the right insight to do things best and learn effectively from experience.  Why do we talk about ourselves and our problems and successes?  You could say, human interest.

PPS: How many other companies have actually taken on Frogboy's lead in many things?  I think the things he does are hard to replicate for others of a different attitude and more latent greed.
